Business Manager Mike Gallagher reports from head office in Oakville to discuss the Ontario government’s allowance to reopen some essential construction projects and shares steps that the Local 793 COVID-19 Task Force Committee is taking in preparation for when staff are able to come back to the offices, instructors and students are able to return to OETIO, and all union-related meetings are able to resume.

Business Manager Gallagher also shares details on a nine-page document, titled “A Canadian New Deal For COVID-19 Recovery,” developed by the Canada’s Building Trades Unions (CBTU), in conjunction with IUOE, outlining what is believed to be the five key priorities for Canada and its construction sector as the country moves forward towards post-pandemic recovery.

The document was affixed to a letter sent to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and included a list of shovel-ready projects that the CBTU believes can put Canadians to work and help boost the country’s post-economic recovery.
