Any Local 793 member who wants to recommend a change to the union’s bylaws can submit suggestions in January and February.

Local 793 president Joe Redshaw has advised that the union will be accepting recommendations during those two months.

Any member who has a recommendation should submit it in writing to the attention of Brenda Armit, temporary social services administrative assistant at head office in Oakville.

The information can be mailed, emailed or faxed.

Longtime Operator Allan Young Passes Away

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 10 for longtime Local 793 member Allan Wayne Young of London.

Allan, a crane operator and 44-year member of the union, died at Victoria Hospital in London on Jan. 5. He was 66.

Allan retired recently. He had worked many years for Oxford Builders Supplies.

As a member of Local 793, Allan had served on a tower crane review committee that was set up to make recommendations to improve crane safety on construction sites in Ontario.

He was a regular at Local 793’s annual golf tournament held in London.

Allan is survived by his wife, Dianna, children Trevor, Alana Landrey and Danielle Boyes, and two grandchildren.

The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. at the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St., London.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
