Local 793 came together on November 29 for the Annual Dinner Dance, a time to celebrate our Union’s long-serving members.

Business Manager Mike Gallagher set the tone for the evening as he tapped into his Irish roots for words of wisdom that perfectly summed up what Local 793 is all about.“In the shelter of each other, people survive,” he told the more than 850 members, officers, executive Board members, staff and guests gathered at the OE Banquet and Conference Centre in Oakville.

Brother Gallagher was also among those members celebrating a membership milestone, having been initiated into the Union 40 years ago. He joined hundreds more at the banquet hall who have been members for 30, 40, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 years.

Due to the suspension of public gatherings during the pandemic, members who reached long-service milestones in both 2022 and 2025 were recognized together. Among them were Vice President Mike Scott (40 years), Director of Health and Safety Brian Alexander and Northwestern Ontario Area Supervisor John Kelly (both 30 years).

Honourary Lifetime Members Michael Quinn and George Bennett were also celebrating completing six decades of membership.

With fabulous food and live music keeping guests entertained long into the night, the Local 793 Dinner Dance was again the perfect way to bring the curtain down on another successful year in the proud history of Local 793.
