Iqaluit’s Department of Health has issued a do not drink water advisory after multiple residents complained that their tap water smelled like gasoline. The city has collected some samples and has sent them to be analyzed. The results are expected to be back in five business days.

While the cause of the problem remains unknown, they suspect that some sort of petroleum product entered the water system. The city has set up clean water filling stations and has asked residents to bring their own jugs.
