Last Friday, we celebrated the unveiling of the Gordie Howe International Bridge!

This Bridge was fully funded by Canada and numerous Local 793 members helped deliver this project.

Today the Gordie Howe International Bridge held it's Canada-only inauguration ceremony! Hundreds of Local 793 Operating Engineers have worked on the $6.4 billion project since 2019.
Our Southwestern Ontario Supervisor, Steve Booze (left) attended the ceremony with Mark Howe (centre) and Marty Howe (right), both sons of the late Gordie Howe, whom the bridge was named after. Our Windsor Business Rep, Dave Pfaff (right), was also in attendance.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford spoke of the importance of the bridge to the province’s economic growth at the ceremony. Scheduled to open to vehicle traffic Monday, July 27th, the crossing will allow for more efficient travel between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan. All members who helped work on this historic project should be very proud of themselves! Here's to the next project!
