Everybody was Irish for the day at the 30th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Toronto on March 19.
A contingent of Local 793 operators, staff and family members marched in the parade, wearing special St. Patrick’s Day jackets with tricolours of the Irish flag.
The union was a sponsor of the parade.
The parade began at St. George and Bloor Street, headed east on Bloor, turned south on Yonge Street and then west on Queen Street, finishing at the parade reviewing stand at Nathan Phillips Square. All in, marchers in the parade walked for about an hour and a half.
Thousands of people lined the parade route, many dressed in the traditional green, white and orange of the Irish flag, others with their faces painted.
