Former Canadian amateur boxing champion and Local 793-sponsored Mohamed ‘Mighty Mo” Zawadi took to social media to wish Ryan Rozicki good luck in his fight against Oscar Rivas on Friday in Montreal in the first-ever Bridgerweight World Championship.

Zawadi and Rozicki spent time sparring in the ring last week in preparation for Rozicki’s upcoming title fight.

Zawadi, 20, from Barrie, Ont., is a four-time Canadian national amateur champion and the 2019 gold medal winner at the Canada Winter Games in Alberta. He made his professional debut in April 2021, scoring a first-round TKO victory over Olivier Tshitumba.

‘Mighty Mo” is scheduled to get back in the ring for his second pro fight in November.

Zawadi is the son of Local 793 member Mashour (Mark) Zawadi. The Zawadi’s are very much a union family, with Mo’s brother Hussein, uncles Sheher, Mohamed, Abdul, and cousin Alexander, all members of Local 793.
