At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for our new Oro-Medonte regional office and training centre last week, we had the privilege of welcoming numerous guest speakers, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford, IUOE General President John Downey and our very own Business Manager Mike Gallagher.
Premier Ford spoke about the importance of putting workers first, growing the trades and investing in Ontario’s infrastructure. IUOE General President John Downey focused on IUOE’s commitment to safety and training, and how this newly developed facility will aid generations of future Operating Engineers. Local 793 Business Manager Gallagher acknowledged this union’s working relationship with the Ontario Government, advocated for continued improvements to training and certifications, highlighted the importance of putting workers safety first, and underlined his support for the proposed all-Canadian pipeline spanning from Alberta to Sarnia, Ontario.
