When a lift calls for power and precision, the only operators trusted to get the job done right are members of Local 793.

Earlier this week, vastly experienced OE Jonathan Hill and apprentice Garrett McMullen completed the removal of the century-old Brant’s Crossing Bridge in Brantford using Mammoet Canada Eastern’s Tadano 38.650-1 lattice boom crawler crane.

The mammoth crane, which took 40 tractor trailer loads to bring to the site on the banks of the Grand River, has a maximum capacity of 650 tons. Brother Hill removed half the 66,500kg steel plate structure from the eastern bank in September and completed the job on October 15 once the crane had been relocated to the opposite bank.

The City of Brantford made the decision to replace the crossing after it was damaged by an ice jam in 2018.
