Today we are proud to celebrate the ribbon-cutting at our third OETIO training campus, located north of Barrie, in Oro-Medonte!
We welcome OETIO and IUOE staff and politicians – including Ontario Premier Doug Ford – for this special occasion. Chippewa of Rama First Nations Elder, Stephanie Sandy, blessed the grounds, and other notable industry guests including CEO of Skilled Trades Ontario, Candice White, also attended the celebration. We were also delighted to welcome IUOE General President John Downey, who flew in from Washington to attend.
This new facility will not only allow us to take on more apprentices – offering a pathway to good-paying careers with benefits and pensions – but also provide training to current 793 members wanting to expand their knowledge and skills.
We’re looking forward to this new chapter, and thank all our members, staff and the public for their unwavering support!
