Oscar Rivas outlasted unbeaten knockout artist Ryan Rozicki to win the inaugural WBC bridgerweight championship Friday evening at Olympia Theatre in Montreal.

Rozicki and Rivas went twelve roundsĀ in the slugfest, but Rozicki came up on the wrong end of a unanimous decision (116-111, 115-112, 115-112).

Rozicki did his best to extend his perfect knockout and win streak through 13 pro fights but ultimately ran out of time. It was a brave showing for the career cruiserweight, whose record moves to 13-1 (13KOs) but who undoubtedly gained fans with his performance.

Rozicki is the son of Baffinland Union site rep, Bobby Currie. IUOE Local 793 is a proud sponsor and supporter of Ryan and wishes him success in his fighting career.
