September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

On this day, we pause to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and the enduring strength of their families and communities.

It is a time for reflection, learning, and commitment. As individuals, organizations, and as a nation, we all have a role to play in advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.

We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to deepen their understanding of the history and legacy of residential schools, the significance of Orange Shirt Day, and the current issues facing Indigenous communities today.

IUOE Local 793, OETIO, and OEBAC stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and echo the powerful message: “Every Child Matters.”
