Rick Kerr has been a member of Local 793 since 1987 and has served the union in various capacities. He has been vice-president, recording-corresponding secretary, an executive board member, auditor and trustee. He has also served on the union’s insurance committee and bylaw committee. Rick was a business rep and has been Eastern Ontario area supervisor from 1998 to 2021. In 2021, Rick became the Executive Director of OETIO. He has been instrumental in many successful organizing drives, including R.W. Thomlinson, Marathon Drilling and Desourdy DJL. Rick is on the Ministry of Labour Ontario/Quebec monitoring body and has been an advocate of the Jobs Protection Office in eastern Ontario. He has served in various capacities on the Ottawa Building Trades Council and is co-chair of the Council for the National Capital Road Builders Association. Rick is also a strong advocate of youth in the trades and apprenticeship.
