Our mobile crane Apprentices were going for gold on Tuesday at the annual Skills Ontario competition at the Toronto Congress Centre in Mississauga, the largest skilled trades and technologies competition in the country.

Eight apprentices were put through a series of practical exercises in front of sharp-eyed judges and retired members Dan Davey and Vince Prout, while they also had to complete a written theory test as part of the contest.

OETIO staff were also on site with the simulator trailer, giving some of the thousands of young people in attendance on Monday and Tuesday the chance to sit in the Operator’s hot seat and have their questions about a career in the skilled trades answered. The winning Apprentice will be announced later this week.
