We were saddened to learn today of the passing of Great Britain’s longest-serving monarch Queen Elizabeth II at her Scottish home Balmoral at the age of 96. On behalf of IUOE Local 793, we offer our sincere condolences to the Royal Family and the British people on the loss of their much-loved monarch.

The Queen was widely respected for her dedication and reassuring presence through many tumultuous periods of history from the Second World War forward. Her many Royal visits to Canada, and that of other Royal Family members, have always been enjoyed by all Canadians. Even in her last days she attended to official duties, hosting the new British Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss earlier this week.

The passing of Queen Elizabeth is the end of an era that saw much change. She will be remembered by the people of Britain and the Commonwealth with great fondness.

Local 793 has lowered our flags at head office and at the Morrisburg Training Centre and they will remain lowered during the approximately 10-day mourning period until after her funeral.
