Local 793 stands in solidarity with the Jewish people of Israel and strongly condemns the devastating attacks carried out without warning by Hamas terrorists last Saturday.

More than 1,300 innocent Israeli men, women and children were murdered and many more injured in communities surrounding the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip, including at a music festival where at least 260 young people enjoying themselves on a Jewish holiday had their lives taken from them.

Many Canadians were also caught up in the shocking violence, with three confirmed to have died so far. We send our deepest sympathies to the families of Ben Mizrachi, 22, Adi Vital-Kaploun and Alexandre Look, both 33. As a mark of respect for all the lives lost in these heinous attacks, flags at Local 793’s head office in Oakville are being flown at half-mast.

It is now our fervent hope that peace and stability return quickly and that innocent civilians in Israel, the Gaza Strip and the wider Middle East do not continue to pay the price for the evil perpetrated by Hamas and its supporters.
