The Union’s head office in Oakville was alive on Sunday, August 18, as 1,200 members and their families enjoyed great entertainment, amazing food , pony rides, bouncy castles, activities for all ages, and so much more at the Toronto/Barrie 100th Anniversary Picnic.
Joining the celebrations was Canadian Regional Director, International Union of Operating Engineers, Lionel Railton, who shared greetings from IUOE General President James T. Callahan in his speech.
Oakville North Burlington MP Pam Damoff was also in attendance, celebrating the Local’s centenary.
Live music was provided by Freedom Train and Marvel comic superheroes were at the ready to pose for photos with children.
Captained by Local 793 member Sebastian Sapeta, the heavy equipment operators championed the Local 793 Tug-of-War challenge. The traditional battle pits earth-moving operators against crane operators.
