Local 793 is participating in a number of Labour Day parades and events across the province on Monday, Sept. 5. Union members and their families are encouraged to attend the events. Union apparel will be supplied.
Following is information on the events:
Toronto
Members are asked to assemble by 9 a.m. on the east side of University Avenue south from Queen Street West to Richmond Street West. The parade finishes at the Exhibition Grounds and those marching in the parade get free admission to the Canadian National Exhibition.
Hamilton
Members are asked to assemble at 10 a.m. in the Realty Association building’s parking lot at the corner of York Boulevard and Strathcona Avenue North across from Dundurn Park.
Windsor
Marshalling begins at 9 a.m. at the corner of Turner Road and Seneca Street and the parade begins at 10 a.m. The parade goes along Walker Road to the Fogolar Furlan Club. There will be food and events for the family at the club and a classic car show.
Sarnia
Members can meet behind the Sarnia Public Library on Julia Street at 8:30 a.m. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. There will be a float available for the retirees to ride on. Refreshments, sausages and hot dogs will be offered at the Local 793 union hall at 1390A Lougar Avenue following the parade.
London
Members can meet at a picnic being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East Park, 1275 Hamilton Road. Chips, hot dogs, sausages, water and pop will be available. Members will be offered a discount for all rides at the park when they reference Local 793.
Kingston
Members are invited to march in a parade that starts at 10:30 a.m. at McBurney Park at Clergy and Ordnance streets. A picnic will be held at the park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Ottawa
Members are asked to gather at Ottawa city Hall at Elgin and Lisgar Streets for a parade that starts at noon. The march will go to McNabb Park at Gladstone and Bronson avenues. There will be a picnic at the park from 1 to 4 p.m. There is no admission to the picnic.
Thunder Bay
A Labour Day picnic is being held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Current River Park.
Sault Ste. Marie
Members are asked to meet at the union hall at 432 Great Northern Rd., Suite 203, at 10:45 a.m. then head to the parade at the Roberta Bondar pavilion.
Sudbury:
Members are asked to meet at the union hall at 430 Westmount Ave., Unit H, at 11 a.m. for a barbecue that runs until 3 p.m.
