Local 793 members are working hard unloading tunnel boring machines (TBMs) at the Port of Oshawa and in Scarborough. Strabag Inc. is the general contractor.
The TBMs will be used for Metrolinx’s Eglinton Crosstown West Extension and Scarborough Subway Extension projects. This project will help build the largest subway tunnel in Toronto’s transit history.
Below is a photo of Local 793 members Paul Monahan and apprentice Rob Lautor working for Mammoet, loading a TBM onto heavy haul trucks in Oshawa. Also, Local 793 member John Munro and apprentice Riley Curry (not seen in photo) working for Can-Pick Crane unloading the TBMs at the Sheppard subway station in Scarborough.
